1 Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly when you create an account, use voice consultations, track your health data, or contact us. This includes: your name, phone number, and optional email address; your pregnancy details, due date, and health history; voice recordings used during speech-to-text consultations; health metrics such as blood pressure, weight, baby kicks, and medication schedules; device information including device type, operating system, and browser type; and usage data such as how you interact with MamaVoice features.
2 How We Use Your Data
We use the information we collect to provide, maintain, and improve MamaVoice services; personalise your health guidance and nutrition recommendations based on your pregnancy stage; send you vaccination reminders, medication alerts, and health milestones; process and respond to your voice consultations through our AI system; connect you with verified maternal health specialists when requested; comply with legal obligations and protect the safety of our users; and improve the accuracy and cultural relevance of our AI responses for African mothers.
3 Voice Recording & Speech Processing
When you use the voice consultation feature, your spoken words are captured by your device's microphone and processed in real-time. Voice data is transmitted securely to our speech recognition service and is not stored permanently on our servers beyond the duration of your session. We use your voice input solely to generate a text transcript for our AI health assistant. Voice recordings are never shared with third parties for advertising purposes. You may disable voice input at any time through your device settings or the MamaVoice app settings.
4 Health Information Handling
MamaVoice collects and processes health-related information including pregnancy data, symptoms, medical history, and health metrics. This information is treated with the highest level of care and confidentiality. We use this data solely to provide you with personalised health guidance and to improve our services. We do not sell your health information to any third party. Health data is encrypted both in transit and at rest using industry-standard protocols. Access to your health data is strictly limited to authorised MamaVoice personnel on a need-to-know basis.
5 Data Storage & Security
Your personal data is stored on secure servers in Africa and the European Union, in compliance with applicable data protection laws. We implement robust technical and organisational measures including end-to-end encryption (TLS 1.3) for data in transit, AES-256 encryption for data at rest, regular security audits, strict access controls, and automated threat detection. Despite our best efforts, no electronic storage method is 100% secure. If a data breach occurs, we will notify you within 72 hours as required by applicable law.
